Fuse Point

At Fuse Point, we want to build a healthier artistic environment on the Copenhagen house scene.

Every Sunday, Fuse Point creates a safe club experience for the dance lovers that take place in Union.

At the Sunday Fuse Jams, there is room for creativity in a safe environment. Fuse Jam Sundays can be seen as an alternative to nightlife, which can often be experienced as an unsafe place to stay, and minority groups in particular feel exposed in the Copenhagen club environment. The dance collective Fuse Point does something about that with their weekly Fuse Jams.

Out with alcohol, sexism and racism

For Fuse Point, it has always been the house culture and the joy of dancing that has been the focal point. But in Copenhagen it can be difficult to find a place where you can express yourself freely without feeling exposed: "It's not always a good experience to go into the city in Copenhagen. With Fuse Jams, every Sunday we want to offer a safe space where you can dance and feel free, without having to look over your shoulder," says Casper Preisler, resident DJ and co-creator of the initiative. Therefore, no alcohol will be sold when the first Fuse Jam is held in the Union cultural center on January 5. The event will also be drug-free and there will be a zero-tolerance policy towards sexism, racism, homophobia and transphobia.

Building a positive community

It is Fuse Point's passion for the electronic scene that is the driving force. Together with the culture house Union and the permanent team of volunteers, they organize events that focus on the positive aspects of house culture. "Fuse Jams are both for the curious and for the seasoned dance mouse. Here there are no judgmental looks, and everyone can be allowed to be part of the culture and the community," says Lotfi Attia, the other mastermind behind Fuse Jams. Open Floor and dance workshops are a regular part of the jam, which revolves around a certain artistic theme every Sunday. During the year, there will thus be the opportunity to experience both live concerts, choreographic performances, battles, debates and much more. "In short, we want to build a healthier artistic environment in the Copenhagen house scene, and there is room for that in a cultural laboratory like Union," concludes Attia.

In the pipeline, Fuse Point has a monthly morning party, on the first Tuesday of the month, with great DJs to awaken the joy of dancing in everyone - as always an invigorating start to the day and the month. Follow their and Union's Facebook for more info.
