Tempi is a Danish genre organization that works to promote roots music, and from 2025 TEMPI will lead an ambitious project that will create even more opportunities for Danish roots artists abroad.

This month, a delightful email ticked in at the TEMPI office in Union with a grant of over DKK 450,000 from the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ joint fund for strategic cultural cooperation.

The grant will support the development of an ambitious roots exchange program through the establishment of so-called block booking networks, which – in addition to Denmark – will be threaded through Canada, the USA, France and Belgium.

It is rare that we have the opportunity to work on projects that cater to all parts of the food chain and are such a distinct win-win for our entire genre area. It is also unusual that an organization of TEMPI’s size receives such a large amount, and it tells me that our innovative approach is recognized, and that you can see the potential that exists for, among other things, implementing this model in other musical niche areas.

The project will start in the new year and will create a sustainable infrastructure for artists, venues and the rest of the musical landscape under the roots genre.

The ambition is to create a structural paradigm shift in the Danish music industry.
