Workshop with BATEL
Join dancer and musician Ludmila Gallardo and percussionist Carlo Seminara, for a workshop exploring the connection between rhythm and movement.
Rhythm Through the Body, The Body Through Rhythm.
In this unique session, participants will experience the unified flow of rhythm and motion through the lens of Afro-Latin American popular practices.
The workshop encourages participants to see the body as the primary channel for rhythm and expression while recognizing the power of the collective body to support and amplify individual abilities. This is an opportunity to connect deeply with rhythm, movement, and community engagingly and dynamically.
Open to all, this workshop requires no prior experience—everyone is welcome to join and explore the rhythms within!

Meet the artists
Lusmila Gallardo has been studying dance and music since 1994. She focused her research on Afro-Latin American cultural contexts, mainly from northeastern Brazil, where she lived and trained for several years with prominent figures in dance and music.
In Buenos Aires, she created a space for teaching Afro-Latin American dances called "Espacio Caboclo," where, together with colleagues, she carried out various courses, festivals, exhibitions, and seminars with dance and percussion experts over six years.
Carlo Seminara is a percussionist and music teacher who has conducted studies and fieldwork related to Afro-rooted cultural expressions in Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, and Cuba. He has released three albums: A Cada Santo una Vela (2010), Barcos (2014), and Tango iá Candombes (2018), the latter of which won the Rosario Edita Award for Best Fusion Music Album.
He founded the “Latin American Percussion” course at the Carlos Guastavino School of Music in Rosario, where he teaches. He is also a percussion professor at the National University of the Litoral.
The workshop and the concert is organized by Sonamos Latinoamerica Cph in collaboration with Union and Building Communities.
