The artists
Lumilla Gallardo has been studying dance and music since 1994. She focused her research on Afro-Latin American cultural contexts, mainly from northeastern Brazil, where she lived and trained for several years with prominent figures in dance and music.
In Buenos Aires, she created a space for teaching Afro-Latin American dances called "Espacio Caboclo," where, together with colleagues, she carried out various courses, festivals, exhibitions, and seminars with dance and percussion experts over six years.
Carlo Seminara is a percussionist, and music teacher, and has conducted studies and fieldwork related to Afro-rooted cultural expressions in Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, and Cuba. He has released three albums: A Cada Santo una Vela (2010), Barcos (2014), and Tango iá Candombes (2018), the latter winning the Rosario Edita Award for Best Fusion Music Album.
He founded the “Latin American Percussion” course at the “Carlos Guastavino” School of Music in Rosario, where he works as a teacher. He is also a percussion professor at the National University of the Litoral.
