Veronika Rud ¦ Vinterjazz in Union

Veronika Rud is a Danish singer and composer from Aarhus and was nominated for a Danish Music Award as New Name of the Year in 2025. During Vinterjazz 2026, she will be visiting Union with her atmospheric music – and inviting the audience into a sensual universe filled with presence, curiosity and honest storytelling.

Veronika Rud's music is based on a deeply personal expression, where she openly shares glimpses of her inner life. With great respect for musical traditions – and at the same time a clear eye towards the present – ​​she moves at the intersection between modern Nordic jazz, Americana and folk music. Here, the music is allowed to set its own agenda, without fixed frameworks or genre limitations.

The sound universe balances beautifully between the warm and the cool, the soft and the energetic. Through playful rhythms, curious improvisations and organic interactions, thoughts are directed towards the traditions of jazz, while new musical connections arise in the moment. The result is a vibrant and dynamic expression that embraces both thoughtfulness and spontaneity.

After the release of her debut EP Mens Jeg Venter in 2024, Veronika Rud's music has received solid rotation on P8 Jazz, and she has made her mark as a distinctive new voice on the Danish jazz scene. In November 2025, she released the first single, 'Nothing', from her upcoming EP - and with this concert she opens the doors even wider to her musical universe.

This evening she is on stage together with guitarist Viktor Jæger, and the duo takes the audience on an intimate and present musical journey. A concert experience that wants to touch, connect and bring people together across backgrounds, experiences and emotions - and remind us of music's special ability to create community.

Vinterjazz in Union

The concert program in Union is part of the nationwide music festival Vinterjazz on 30 January - 28 February 2026. In Union, we invite you to a range of exciting jazz concerts, each of which in their own way reflects Union's eclectic cultural programme. In other words, you should not expect traditional jazz, but rather a journey to the global roots of jazz.
