Talk: Women, Peace & Security

Visaka Dharmadasa works on disseminating the content of the UN resolution 1325 on women peace and security, calling for the inclusion of women at all levels of peace building and decision making. 

She trains women to run for political office and power sharing in Sri Lanka, and she was awarded the Women Building Peace award in 2024. Visaka Dharmadasa was a team member of special rapporteur to look into the violence in northeast of Sri Lanka and the ceasefire violations by the Human­Rights commission, and she is a member of Global Network of Women Peace builders, as well a senior member of Women Mediators Across the Commonwealth.
