Sinimuso (FI/ML)

Finno-Ugric Kalevala poems and old kantele melodies meet Sahara blues, groovy Bambara rhythms, wild dances and soulful peul melodies.

Sinimuso means 'women of the future' in the Malian Bambara language. And the band Sinimuso really leads the way by bringing seven virtuoso female musicians and their border-crossing collaboration to light.

The project focuses on female musicians and their power of action. The result is a combination of the power of women and music, and the topics relate to women's lives and the futures we want to create.

Sinimuso fuses Malian and Finnish musical traditions. Finno-Ugric sung Kalevala poems and old kantele melodies meet Sahara blues, groovy Bambara rhythms, wild dances and soulful peul melodies.

The band's debut album, Nouskaa Sisaret, will be released in October 2024, along with a release tour in the Nordic countries, which fortunately brings them past Copenhagen and Union.
